I’ve spent nearly 30 years progressing from freelance developer to lead developer, software architect and fractional CTO, building systems, leading teams and helping businesses turn ambitious ideas into technology that works commercially as well as technically.

What makes me different is that I don’t arrive pushing a fashionable platform or trying to manufacture a six-month transformation programme. I get underneath the business problem, explain the difficult bits in plain English and give honest advice even when the best answer is to build less.

Alongside my consultancy work, I’m creating Elemental50: 50 challenges in 50 weeks, beginning when I turn 50, to explore ADHD, mental health and what can happen when we stop waiting to feel ready. It’s slightly unreasonable, deeply personal and probably the clearest example of how I work: take something complicated, find a practical way forward, then commit to making it real.
